How do I apply for Commencement housing?

The Office of Summer and Conference Housing mails invitations to parents/guardians of graduating undergraduate students. Addresses are provided by the Office of the Registrar. Using the web address listed on the invitation, you can apply for housing and pay by MasterCard or Visa.


When will I receive confirmation of the reservation?

As soon as you submit your request on line, your reservation is guaranteed. You will receive an email confirming that we received your reservation request immediately after making the reservation. The guarantee is for housing only not for a particular type of accommodation.


Am I guaranteed housing?

Yes, for the maximum 3 room reservation.


How much are rooms?

Each residence hall room costs $128.25 plus tax of 14.5% totaling $150/ $87.34 plus tax of 14.5% tax totaling $150.00 per room for the period noon Friday, May 17 until noon Monday, May 20, 2013.

Requests to arrive on Thursday, May16 costs $42.75 for each residence hall room plus tax of 14.5%, for a total of $50.00/room/night which will be added to the $150 per room.


What are the dates of stay?

Noon Friday, May 17, until noon Monday, May 20, 2013. Thursday, May 16, arrival can be accommodated after 4:00 pm and must be part of the package rate.


How many rooms per parent/student may be reserved?

Each family may reserve as many as 3 rooms.


Is it possible to request a particular building?

No, rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.


My son/daughter is a junior and will participate in Phi Beta Kappa. May we reserve rooms?

Guests who arrive on campus to attend the Phi Beta Kappa ceremony may reserve rooms and arrive after noon Thursday, May 16.


Is it possible to stay past Monday?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate late departures because we have to prepare for the start of summer housing on campus.


Can I arrive before the Thursday check in date?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate earlier arrivals because we are in the process of preparing for commencement housing and academic year move out.


What are the amenities?

We provide 1 blanket, 2 sheets, 1 pillow, 1 pillow case and 2 towels per person. Although the Residence Hall Offices will have an extra supply for emergencies, the supply is limited.


Are rooms cleaned on a daily basis?

Daily housekeeping or trash removal service is not available.


Where do I park?

The entrance to campus is via Canal Road. Parking is provided in the Southwest Garage. There is no parking charge for commencement guests staying in campus starting at 6:00 pm Thursday all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Vehicles must be moved out of the garage no later than 5:00 am on Monday.


Do you have shuttle service into other areas of Washington, D.C.?

The Georgetown University Transportation Services offers weekday service ONLY. However, the Washington area is served by an extensive subway Metro system. Buses stop at the Healy Gates. Taxis are also available at the gates or the Georgetown Conference Center.


Where do I get my room key?

Guests should pick up room keys at their respective RHO (Residence Hall Office). Information on where to check-in will be provided in the assignment email you will receive in May. Upon arrival to campus, you will receive your room key along with other information to assist you during your stay.


What if I decide to cancel?

Cancellations must be submitted in writing by the deadline date established on the commencement housing invitation in order to receive a full refund. After that date you would forfeit 50% of the full amount paid. Refunds are processed early June.


What are the methods of payments?

Visa or MasterCard is required to make a reservation using the website. Cash, checks and credit card payments (Visa and MasterCard only) are also acceptable forms of payment for invitations which are mailed. If you need an application sent to you to include with payment, email commencementhousing@georgetown.edu. Paying by check or cash means you forfeit your opportunity to get a room with a bathroom.


Do you offer handicapped rooms?

A limited number of handicapped accessible rooms are available. Please contact our office in writing at commencementhousing@georgetown.edu to make this request.


Are wheelchairs or golf carts available?

For special needs, please refer to http://commencement.georgetown.edu.


Are refrigerators provided?

No, however you are permitted to use the refrigerators in the floor lounges.
