Dear Students in the Classes of 2011 and 2012:

The Office of Student Housing has begun the fall selection housing selection process for the 2011-2012 academic year. This is a reminder that Eligibility sign up ends at noon on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. Students will be notified of results by noon on October 22nd via your Housing-At-A-Glance page. An email notification will also be sent.

Students who want to sign up for housing after noon on October 20, 2009 will be added to the wait list.

Only students who complete the sign-up process and are approved by the Housing Office will be eligible to enter the housing selection process or to add into an apartment/townhouse. You cannot pull up a student who has not been granted eligibility.

Applications for eligibility should be submitted online at http://housing.georgetown.edu/academic by going to your Housing-at-a-Glance page and following instructions provided there. Sign up ends at Noon on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. You will be notified of results via your Georgetown email by Noon Thursday, October 22, 2009.

You may sign up in groups of one, two, three or four. It is recommended that students who want to live together should sign up together so that the whole group is either approved or not approved. You must select a sponsor among the group members to enter the group application. If you are entering alone, you are the sponsor. The computer will average the group members’ points in the sort.

Please see the Housing Selection Handbook for an explanation of the point system. You may go to your Housing-at-a-Glance page on our web site (http://housing.georgetown.edu/academic) to view your rank (number of points) for housing eligibility and selection. All students are given points, so the fact that you have points on your record does not mean that you are eligible to select housing. Please contact the Housing Office if you have any questions concerning the number of points you received.

Eligibility approval: We will approve only the number of students whom we can accommodate within our bed capacity. If more students respond positively than we are able to accommodate, we will do a random computer sort to determine which rising juniors and seniors will be eligible to live on campus next year. Those students who do not obtain eligibility will be put on a wait list for any available spaces. Students on the Wait List will be notified as space becomes available.

Requesting eligibility does not obligate you to live on campus. It just gives you the option of entering the housing selection process if you are granted eligibility. It also serves as your application for housing to give us some idea of how many students want to live in campus housing.

If you have any questions, send an email to campushousing@georgetown.edu or call the Office of Student Housing at 687-4560.

Thank you,
Office of Student Housing
