Return to Correspondence
Dear [name],
You have been approved for early move in to your on-campus fall housing assignment as requested by you or by a department/organization on your behalf. The date you can move into your assignment is #dateformat(date_in,"dddd, mmmm d")#. If your arrival is on behalf of an organization or department, please verify with that area whether this arrival date and time are mandatory.
Key Pick Up
You may pick up the key to your assignment between 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm on the date indicated above. If you currently reside on campus for the summer, you should begin moving from your summer assignment to your fall assignment at 10:00 am to be completed by 4pm on the same date. Returning students who were not summer residents may pick up your key as early as 4:00 pm at the fall Residence Hall Office which serves your building. (Alumni Square RHO for Alumni Square and Townhouses, East Campus RHO for LXR and Nevils, Village A/New South for Village A and New South, Kennedy for Kennedy, McCarthy and Reynolds, Darnall/Henle RHO for Darnall and Henle, and VillageC/Harbin RHO for Village C and Harbin). All RHOs are open from 9 am - 9 pm except for Village C, which is open 24 hours daily until August 29, 2009.
Parking and Unloading
All early arrival move-in traffic must enter campus via the Canal Road entrance. Once on campus, you must park and unload personal items from your vehicle in the Southwest Garage. Please present this "early arrival confirmation" notice to the booth attendant for garage access. Due to the large volume of pedestrian activity and preparations for the Freshman/Transfer Move-In, parking and/or temporary stopping to unloading will NOT be permitted on roads or walkways around the residence halls and apartment complexes. Parking or stopping to unloading in areas other than the Southwest Garage will result in ticketing and/or towing of vehicles.
Cart Rental
There are a limited number of carts available to assist in your move-in. Please see your "Housing-At-A-Glance" page for reservation information. First year students will not have access to cart rental on line but can check for available carts in the RHO or in 100 Harbin Hall
GoCard
Your GoCard will be activated to grant you access to your fall assignment. If you have lost your GoCard, you must replace it at the GoCard Office, located on the first floor of Darnall Hall. Until you receive this card, the RHO may issue you a Conference Visitor Pass to give you access. You may keep this pass no longer than one business day following your arrival to campus. Failure to return this pass will result in a charge of $15 applied to your student account.
It is essential that you secure your valuables since painting, cleaning, construction, lock changes, telephone testing, etc., will still be in progress. The University will not be held liable for the loss of or damage to any personal property.
Please retain this letter for your records and place a copy of this letter on both the inside and outside of the entrance to the room, apartment, or townhouse space you are occupying until August 29, 2009. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Housing Office at (202) 687-4560.
Sincerely,
Office of Housing Services
